How does the Marathon actually rock? The answer is at the finishing line. In addition to the 5 cheering stations along the route, a grand rock music concert is held at the finishing line. It could be said that lineup for the concert is better than some of the hottest live shows, featuring the label GVO beloved by many young people, M-plus and Pugongying, two renowned rock groups based in Chongqing, as well as Tiantang, a well-known rock band from China. Their music was dedicated to the youth, so runners are sure to enjoy themselves when they finish the race.
This Marathon was established in 1998, and in 20 years the series have spread to Chicago, Washington, Madrid, Liverpool, Vancouver, Mexico City and other cosmopolis, making it become the largest marathon series in the world. Last year alone saw 30 events took place around the globe, attracting over 600,000 runners to take part.
This is the first time for Chongqing to have such event, according to head of the event committee, the Marathon and Chongqing go well with each other, and they hope that the landing of such world-recognized sports event can showcase the prosperity and livelihood of Chongqing to marathoners from China as well as from other countries, in a more thorough way.
